WELCOME TO

Near and Far Optometry

Your Vision, Our Mission

At Near and Far Optometry, we take your eyes seriously, but not so seriously that we’ll miss a good joke.  Here, we’re all about building trust with our patients through clear communication and education.  We make sure you know all about those common eye conditions—like myopia, which is just a fancy way of saying, “I can’t see that!” hyperopia, or as we like to call it, “I can see the future, but not my phone,” and astigmatism, which is like your vision had decided to visit a funhouse mirror.

Education is key, and we’re here to empower you with all the knowledge you need to be the smartest person in the room about your eye health. Our optometrists take their time to explain everything—diagnoses, treatments, and preventive measures—ensuring you’re never left squinting in confusion. Whether it's picking out the perfect eyewear or understanding why you can’t just blink your way to better vision or just want to avoid walking into walls, we’ve got you.

Why Choose Us?

  1. Expertise and Experience: Our optometrists are so well-trained, they could probably diagnose an eye condition through a video call—though we don’t actually offer that service and recommend coming in person for accuracy!

  2. Patient-Centric Approach: Your comfort and understanding are our top priorities. We promise not to bore you with eye jargon—unless you’re into that sort of thing!

  3. Comprehensive Services: From routine eye exams to specialized treatments, we’ve got all your eye care needs covered—even the ones you didn’t know you had.

Dr. Airian Thai

The decision to go into Optometry was quite simple, all her siblings and cousins wore coke-bottle glasses.  She figured if she could help her family see the world without mistaking a pole for a person, she could help others too. Now, she spends her time adjusting not only glasses but also adjusting the patient's attitudes, changing their belief from "I can't see" to "I have x-ray eyes!". Dr. Thai transforms eye exams into comedy routines, reassuring her patients that if they can’t see the fine print, it’s probably not worth seeing anyway. Her mission? To help families like hers see the world clearly...unless, they prefer to see through tinted lenses.

On a serious note, Dr. Thai graduated from UCLA with a degree in Psychobiology before receiving her doctorate from New England College of Optometry in 2004. Her many years of comprehensive eyecare experience includes the treatment and management of ocular diseases, refractive surgeries, and specialty contact lenses.  In her spare time, she enjoys traveling and learning about different cultures.  She is passionate about art and architecture.  She is a foodie and also a certified cosmetic tattoo artist.

Dr. Diana Lou

Dr. Diana Lou is a proud graduate of UC Berkeley, class of 1991. She has a passion for traveling, reading historical fiction, cooking, hiking, practicing yoga, and spending quality time with family and friends. As an optometrist, Dr. Lou is dedicated to helping people improve their vision and overall eye health.

Her approach to patient care is deeply personal: "I dedicate my practice to understanding my patients' needs and providing care in a personal manner." Dr. Lou values the connections she builds with her patients and strives to make the most of every opportunity to enhance their lives through better vision.
